Chemical Laboratory Technician CFC

The Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering (ISIC, https://www.epfl.ch/schools/sb/research/isic/) at EPFL is seeking a chemical laboratory technician to work within the nuclear magnetic resonance platform (ISIC-NMRP) and the chemical stores platform (ISIC-CHSP).
Your mission will be to handle routine solid-state NMR analyses for EPFL research laboratories and other users of our platforms. You will be involved in sample preparation, measurements, troubleshooting and maintenance of instruments, and user support. You will also contribute to the operation of the ISIC chemical stores (Lausanne and Sion). Given the diverse user profile and nature of activities, we are looking for an open, flexible, and organised person wishing to work in a cosmopolitan and multicultural environment.

Activities within the NMR platform
- NMR analyses:
- Preparation of samples for solid-state NMR
- Setting up routine solid-state NMR experiments
- Supervision of analyses on solid and liquid NMR automation systems
- Technical support for users of solid-state NMR analyses
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment
- Management of consumable stocks
Activities within the chemical stores platform
- Welcoming customers at the store and advising on the purchase of consumables and laboratory equipment.
- Receipt and distribution of goods (quality control and traceability)
- Stock maintenance, organisation, and cleanliness of the store
- Support in the handling of special chemical waste and administrative follow-up
- Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC) as a chemical laboratory technician or equivalent training.
- Previous experience in analytical chemistry, in industry or academia, is an asset.
- Rigor, organisational skills, flexibility, and adaptability to change.
- Strong team spirit while able to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent skills in open and constructive communication.
- Ability to work in multi-user service platforms and a cosmopolitan environment.
- Proficiency in standard computer tools.
- Strong knowledge of written and spoken French and English is essential – level B2 required.
