The Vaud Hospitals Federation IT (FHVi) is the preferred IT partner of 12 hospitals and regional health institutions in the canton of Vaud. FHVi supports them in the many challenges of digital transformation in the healthcare sector and its main missions are to plan, design, implement and operate the IT system of its members. There are more than 130 employees serving 14,000 users, with a fleet of over 8,000 workstations spread across about a hundred geographical sites and three cantons (VD, VS, FR).

FHVi is looking for a Microsoft Systems Engineer to strengthen its Systems team and play a central role in maintaining, evolving and transforming its Microsoft ecosystem.

Your mission

As a Microsoft Systems Engineer, you are the technical reference for FHVi’s Microsoft ecosystem. You work on the design, operation, security and evolution of Windows Server platforms, Active Directory and associated services.

Within the Systems team, you actively contribute to the standardisation, simplification and automation of environments, ensuring best practices are applied and architectures remain coherent.

Your responsibilities

Microsoft expertise & platform evolution

  • Act as the technical reference for FHVi’s Microsoft ecosystem: Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Exchange, PKI.
  • Design, operate and evolve directory services (AD DS, GPO, forests and domains), messaging (Exchange on-premises and hybrid), RDS farms and internal PKI (ADCS).
  • Standardise and automate system environments (PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, OpCon), ensuring best practices and architectural coherence.

Operation, security & service continuity

  • Ensure stability, availability and monitoring of Microsoft infrastructures in production, and provide level 3 support in accordance with defined service levels.
  • Manage the lifecycle of Microsoft components: update planning, version upgrades, decommissioning obsolete systems.
  • Contribute, in collaboration with the CISO, to infrastructure security: hardening, identity and access management, Microsoft security solutions (Defender), vulnerability and patch management.
  • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery plans (BCP / DRP) and participate in on-call duty as per current arrangements.
  • Document procedures, configurations and best practices to ensure knowledge sustainability within the team.

Projects & continuous improvement

  • Participate in transformation and modernisation projects of infrastructures and contribute to defining technical roadmaps.
  • Conduct active technological watch and propose improvements meeting business needs and future challenges.

Profile sought

Education & experience

  • Higher education in IT (Bachelor or Master, HES/EPF Engineer or equivalent qualification).
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in systems engineering, with strong Microsoft specialisation, ideally in a critical, complex and multi-site environment.

Technical skills

  • Advanced expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem: Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange, PKI, WSUS, RDS farms.
  • Good knowledge of VMware virtualisation (vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, cluster and resource management).
  • Good knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
  • Good knowledge of backup solutions and restoration strategies.
  • Knowledge of complex architectures: high availability, active-active datacentres, security by design, SSO.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of ITIL v4 processes (incident, problem and change management) and experience with ITSM tools.
  • Holding professional certifications (Microsoft, VMware, ITIL, etc.) is an asset.

Personal qualities

  • Ability to analyse needs, translate them into relevant technical solutions and solve complex problems autonomously, while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Overview and initiative to align technical choices with strategic objectives and long-term organisational needs.
  • Rigor, sense of responsibility and good writing skills, especially for technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, service orientation and enthusiasm for knowledge sharing.

Languages

  • French: excellent oral and written command.
