Overview

As Director Manufacturing Lead, you guide the operational execution of a manufacturing unit to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery while leading production teams. You integrate the new facility into Lonza’s manufacturing network and support CAPEX-driven start-ups. You work with cross-functional teams on budgeting, risk analysis, and performance reporting to drive efficient, compliant operations. Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Lead production managers, supervisors and specialists, owning HR management including development, hiring, and performance issues
  • Ensure safe, quality-focused execution of all production campaigns and environmental compliance
  • Serve as first point of contact for production issues following escalation guidelines
  • Provide expertise for solution finding and troubleshooting to production teams
  • Monitor production costs and contribute to POV forecasts and product cost budgeting
  • Conduct risk analyses and manufacturing workplace inspections
  • Support general production management, housekeeping, training, and process control
  • Coordinate production planning and feasibility assessments with BU teams (S&OP, technical evals)
  • Oversee performance reporting: weekly dashboards, Hoshin boards, etc.
  • Act as deputy to the head of organization during absence
  • Lead or participate in CAPEX projects and ensure timely end-user input
  • Prepare operating procedures, documentation, maintenance plans, and training for projects
  • Organize startup measures and training for project handover to manufacturing teams
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Academical degree (Master, PhD or comparable) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related disciplines
  • Strong leadership, self-motivation, integrity, perseverance and result orientation
  • Significant experience in chemical manufacturing with leadership roles
  • Broad chemical expertise and chemical engineering knowledge
  • Deep GMP and EHS knowledge
  • Fluency in English and German (or willingness to learn)
  • Understanding of business and financial processes (advantageous)
  • Practical experience with OE/LEAN methodologies (plus)
