Accounting and External Reporting Expert

In this role you will act as a senior IFRS expert and external reporting preparer based at Roche’s Basel corporate head office. You’ll lead IFRS accounting work, support cross-functional projects (M&A, alliances, divestments, financing), and translate IFRS requirements into actionable reporting specifications. You will drive monthly close, year-end and half-year external statements, and contribute to training and internal control improvements. The role offers visibility across functions and geographies and a clear impact on Roche’s financial reporting integrity and system enhancements.

• Lead IFRS accounting and impact assessments for complex cross-functional projects (M&A, alliances, partnering, divestments)
• Prepare year-end and half-year external IFRS consolidated financial statements
• Oversee technical accounting operations for monthly closing and external reporting events
• Translate IFRS and other standards into detailed reporting specifications and maintain the Group accounting manual
• Facilitate internal financial training and update training materials
• Ensure effective internal control system and drive process improvements

• Qualified accountant with degree in finance and accounting or a professional accounting qualification
• Minimum 10 years of IFRS external reporting experience in a large global organization
• Proven expertise in complex technical IFRS areas (M&A, alliances, partnering, divestments, revenue recognition)
• Ability to liaise across networks and stakeholders at different levels to resolve complex matters
• Strong project management, attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
• Self-learning and adaptability in a collaborative environment
• Fluent spoken and written business English; knowledge of Swiss accounting rules and German language beneficial
• On-site work required at Basel head office
