Overview
As a Design Engineer in Hitachi Energy’s Global Product Care for Insulation and Components, you drive the development and design of innovative transformer-related products. You will work with cross-functional and global teams to ensure designs meet specifications and industry standards while optimizing performance and sustainability. You’ll build and verify mechanical simulations, support R&D and production, and help evolve internal tools and processes. This role offers hands-on impact in high-voltage components and a chance to influence product quality and manufacturability. You will join a collaborative, results‑driven environment with a strong emphasis on mentorship and knowledge sharing.

- Develop mechanical simulation models for transformer components (bushings, tap-changers, measurement devices) and perform static/dynamic, seismic, short-circuit, and thermal-structure coupling analyses
- Verify mechanical performance per IEC, IEEE, GB and other standards and issue technical simulation reports
- Support product R&D, type tests, and mass production; contribute to troubleshooting across factories
- Enhance internal tools for mechanical evaluations and participate in technical exchanges with global teams
- Ensure compliance with external/internal regulations and guidelines; improve designs for manufacturability and cost‑effectiveness; select materials and processes
- Lead projects or play a key role in project teams; mentor junior colleagues and act as a subject matter expert
- Collaborate with supply chain to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs
- Participate in design reviews and implement modifications to elevate project quality
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across the team to drive innovation
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in R&D or engineering, preferably in high voltage equipment or components
- Solid mechanical knowledge, ideally in electrical insulators or high-voltage components
- Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Good understanding of IEC/IEEE/ISO/ASTM Standards
- Experience in finite element analysis and ANSYS software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work with technical teams across the world
