Customer Application Engineer

As a Customer Application Engineer at ABB, you will master customer applications and solution architectures for the Critical Power portfolio. You will bridge customers, Sales, Product Management, and R&D to translate market needs into technical solutions and help shape future product innovations. You’ll develop standards, reference architectures, and reusable frameworks to enable engineering excellence and support business growth. This role offers cross-functional collaboration and a meaningful impact on global power systems.

• Build expertise in customer applications, solution architectures, market segments, and customer value propositions for the Critical Power portfolio; support Sales with fit-for-purpose solutions
• Develop and maintain standards, methodologies, tools, best practices, reference architectures, and reusable application frameworks
• Act as subject matter expert for strategic customer applications and promote collaboration across Sales, Product Management, R&D, and Agile units
• Capture market trends and customer needs, translating them into actionable insights for growth and product development

• Bachelor in Electrical Engineering
• Master in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or related field? (explicitly stated as possible)
• >5 years of professional experience in Critical Power, UPS systems, Energy Storage, Power Conversion, or related applications
• Strong understanding of customer applications, solution architectures, market segments, and channel dynamics
• Ability to translate customer requirements into differentiated technical solutions and compelling customer value propositions
• Experience supporting Sales through technical consulting, customer engagement, and channel enablement
• Experience developing standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices within a technical organization
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across customers, channel partners, Sales, Product Management, and R&D
• Knowledge of international standards and regulations including Grid Codes and utility operator requirements (e.g., NERC, ERCOT, Fingrid, IEEE 2800)
