Job Description

Position Overview

The teacher will support student success by implementing district‑approved curriculum, delivering engaging lessons, monitoring progress, addressing individual learning needs, and maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment. The teacher communicates regularly with students, families, and the school administration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer elementary school lessons consistent with district curriculum, goals, and objectives.
  • Promote a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
  • Create lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with grade‑level expectations.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment and modify instructional methods for individual student needs, including students with special needs.
  • Teach citizenship, digital responsibility, and other subject matters specified by applicable laws.
  • Continue professional growth through seminars, workshops, or research.
  • Maintain accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance.
  • Encourage parental engagement and ensure consistent communication with students and parents.
  • Evaluate and assess curriculum; participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate tools, maintain inventory records.
  • Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day, including transportation.
  • Administer standardized tests as per district and state requirements.
  • Support a positive school culture through the Professional Learning Community process.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, innovation, and a cooperative attitude.
  • Provide daily live instruction for students.

  • Submit requested data and information on time.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings organized by supervisors and district administrators.
  • Complete necessary paperwork as directed.

  • Respect the established chain of command in all interactions.
  • Stay informed about the district's crisis management plan.
  • Exemplify professional excellence in the school, community, and on social media.
  • Focus on designated responsibilities and collaborate effectively.
  • Advocate for the school district, promoting its values internally and broadly.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a constructive work environment.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance to maximize student instruction.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
  • Ability to provide physical assistance during emergency situations.
  • Stamina and agility required to care for active students.

Work Environment

  • Standard office and school building environments.
  • Travel to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
  • May require providing student behavior support using restraint or seclusion techniques.

Salary & Compensation

Competitive salary schedule for certified staff. A first‑year teacher with a bachelor’s degree earns a base salary of $50,500; Teacher in year 15 earns $54,800; Teacher in year 30 earns $58,800. Additional stipends are available for advanced degrees and longevity.
