(80 - 100%) R&D Senior Engineer

As an R&D Senior Engineer at ABB, you will lead validation and customization of OEM low-voltage UPS devices (1-phase and 3-phase), batteries, and accessories. You’ll coordinate test programs with external labs to ensure IEC/UL compliance and support product development with technical specs and business cases. You will drive root cause analyses from testing and customer sites, while exploring state-of-the-art UPS technologies with the Swiss R&D team. This role blends engineering leadership with hands-on testing to advance ABB’s critical power solutions.

• Lead technical validation and customization of OEM 1ph and 3ph LV UPS, batteries and accessories
• Plan and manage test programs with external labs (UL, Intertek, Dekra, Eurofins) to demonstrate IEC/UL compliance
• Govern technical specifications of assigned products and assist Product Manager with business case development
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions from qualification testing and customer-site issues
• Maintain awareness of new UPS technologies and collaborate with the Swiss research center and other stakeholders

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering
• Experience with power electronic systems
• Experience with laboratory measuring equipment
• Knowledge of IEC and UL standards
• Experience working with external laboratories and certification bodies
• Knowledge of ECNs, BOMs, and documentation systems
• Experience with failure investigations and RCA
• English fluency (spoken and written)
