Embedded Software Test Engineer (C)

As Software Development Engineer – Testing, you will design and maintain automated testing for embedded software to ensure product quality. You will work with cross-functional, international teams to implement robust test strategies. You will create detailed test specs and develop automated test systems spanning hardware and software. You will analyze results and support root-cause analysis, driving improvements in testing processes. This role supports VAT’s mission through innovation, integrity, and a customer-centric approach to quality.

• Define, implement, and execute software test strategies, plans, and test scenarios
• Develop detailed test specifications with the software team
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems (hardware and software)
• Improve testing processes, tools, and knowledge sharing
• Apply advanced testing technologies to support project objectives
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and support troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Collaborate with cross-functional, multicultural, globally distributed teams across the SDLC

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline
• Several years of experience in embedded software testing
• Hands-on experience with testing and programming tools such as LabVIEW, LabVIEW CVI, C, C#, Visual Basic, Python, and SQL databases
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Ethernet, DeviceNet, or CC-Link
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within international teams
• Fluent in English; German is advantageous
