Overview

In this role you will design and operate secure, scalable Kotlin-based backend services for an e-banking platform, delivering end-to-end API contracts and observable production systems. You will work closely with mobile and backend squads to influence platform architecture and enforce secure, event-driven data flows. Your work enables reliable financial services, leveraging microservices, Kafka streams, and OpenShift deployments. This is a hands-on position with a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and cross-functional collaboration.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend services and APIs using Kotlin and Spring Boot
  • Build and operate event-driven integrations via Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, Kafka Streams, Avro schemas, exactly-once semantics)
  • Own data models, query optimisation, and schema migrations across PostgreSQL and MySQL
  • Integrate services with observability, CI/CD, and DevOps tooling; support deployment and monitoring on OpenShift/Kubernetes
  • Apply security best practices (OAuth2/OIDC, authentication, authorization, encryption)
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, uphold engineering standards
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation covering design, implementation, and API contracts
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience
  • Proficiency in Kotlin
  • Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot (MVC, Security, Data JPA, Cloud, Actuator)
  • Kafka experience including Kafka Streams, Schema Registry, and exactly-once semantics
  • PostgreSQL and MySQL data modelling, query plans, replication, and HikariCP
  • Kubernetes or OpenShift experience
  • Understanding of distributed systems and microservices design patterns
  • OAuth2/OIDC and backend security fundamentals
  • Git and CI/CD practices
  • German B2+ and English business proficiency
