R&D Hardware Engineer (80 -100%) f/m/d

In this role you will drive hardware development for high power UPS platforms within ABB’s Electrification business. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to design architectures, specify systems, and optimize electronics to maximize integration and performance. You will translate requirements into robust designs and maintain thorough technical documentation. This hybrid role offers exposure to industrial power electronics in a global, innovative setting with meaningful impact. You will contribute to building cleaner, smarter energy solutions.

• Execute a variety of complex technology and engineering assignments
• Apply processes, standards, and requirements including architectural constraints
• Design system architectures, define technical specifications, and perform circuit simulations
• Develop projects involving analog, digital, and power systems
• Optimize designs for mechanical, electrical, and PCBA integration in cross-functional teams
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for systems, components, and interfaces

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
• 2+ years of experience with electrical systems and complex power electronic systems
• Experience in digital and analog circuit design and simulation and hands-on EMI design, mitigation, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for industrial products with familiarity with IEC and UL standards
• Proficiency in documentation systems including ECNs and BOMs and ability to work in a complex, cross-functional organization
• Excellent command of English (written and verbal)
