Overview
In this role you drive early clinical development for GI-focused programs, leading phase 1/2 studies and shaping PoC strategies. You will be a medical lead within global cross-functional teams, collaborating with biology and chemistry to chart clinical development plans and trial protocols. You connect with key opinion leaders and Health Authorities to align on study design and regulatory expectations. You help translate discovery science into patient-focused programs, impacting early decision points and study publications. This is a high-visibility role at Novartis that combines clinical leadership with strategic development impact.

- Lead global trial teams through phase 1 and 2 development
- Draft the early clinical development plan
- Act as medical lead for early clinical studies
- Represent the team in decision boards
- Serve as primary contact for internal and external key opinion leaders
- Oversee publication and presentation of clinical results
- Collaborate with biomarker experts in implementation
- Work with research scientists to align preclinical strategy
- Participate in Health Authority interactions
- Medical doctor with board certification in gastroenterology or relevant medical specialty
- Several years of clinical experience treating IBD (UC and CD) patients
- Ability to learn fast and work independently
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a matrix organization
