Job Summary
- Serve as lifeguard and swim assistant as needed for Community Education swim programs
- During open and lap swims, supervise and assist swimmers as needed including working in water
- During swim classes, assist head instructor in conducting lessons, including working in water with swimmers
- Maintain safe pool deck and enforce safe swimming rules
- Operate handicap chair and lift as needed
- Respond to emergencies using appropriate first aid
Qualifications
- Current American Red Cross certifications for lifeguarding, CPR, First aid, and AED
- Ability to work effectively with swimmers, parents, instructors, and other swim staff members
- Ability to handle handicap chair, lift and rescue equipment
- Experience as lifeguard or swim assistant preferred but not required
Working Condition
$12.50/hour - more dependent on experience. Add'l $1.00/hr with WSI; hours vary.
Candidates hired for this position will be employed through EduStaff, the educational staffing partner of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, and will be required to complete a separate Edustaff application and orientation once an employment offer is received.
