Organizational Context
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) aims to enhance understanding and capacity in intellectual property (IP) management by developing tools and program to manage intellectual property rights (IPRs) throughout the innovation process.
Objective of the assignment
The Senior Project Consultant will provide comprehensive support to the IP for Business Division (IPBD) to ensure the successful implementation of the Global Entrepreneurship Empowerment Program. The services will be delivered through the preparation of defined outputs and deliverables within the duration of the assignment. Responsibilities will include designing contracts and managing experts, organizing online and onsite capacity‑building events, identifying and onboarding relevant experts, conducting research and analyzing data on country’s innovation ecosystems and specific industries, and support the development of content related to IP commercialization and management. To facilitate effective execution, the Senior Project Consultant may need to travel. In that case, WIPO will purchase the ticket.
- Design and manage contracts for international and regional experts supporting the Global Entrepreneurship Empowerment Program (GEEP), including the identification, onboarding, and coordination of relevant technical specialists.
- Identify, engage, and onboard the first group of GEEP Associates and Full GEEP Partners, including establishing initial collaboration frameworks.
- Oversee the development of the GEEP online platform.
- Design and develop digital communication assets to support the GEEP outreach campaign, including visual materials and content for online promotion.
- Develop and support the preparation of knowledge resources, training materials, and guidance related to intellectual property management and commercialization for entrepreneurs, startups, and SMEs.
- Support the coordination and implementation of program activities under GEEP, including collaboration with internal teams, partner institutions, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of program outputs.
- Prepare progress updates, activity reports, and documentation summarizing outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for the GEEP.
- Attend meetings and carry out additional tasks as requested by the Director.
Key Milestones
- Implementation plan finalized by 31 July 2026
- Partner mapping finalized and initial partners identified by 31 August 2026
- Communication and outreach materials delivered by 30 September 2026
- Promotion of the program in at least three public activities of the Division by 1 October 2026
- Beta version of the GEEP website and platform launched by 30 November 2026
- Final report submitted by 31 December 2026
Reporting
The Senior Project Consultant will report to the Director of IP for Business Division (IPBD).
Profile
Education
- Advanced university degree in law, economics, business management, accounting or finance.
- A first-level university degree in the relevant discipline plus two years of relevant experience in addition to the years of experience requested below may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Experience
- At least ten years of professional experience, preferably in the field of intellectual property and within an international environment, including at least four years in the private sector or in a consultancy or advisory role supporting businesses in the development and implementation of their intellectual property strategies.
- Exposure to government or a UN organization, preferably in managing large-scale collaborative projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in an area related to IP Management and Strategy such as: IP due diligence, licensing agreements, brand management, IP audits, IP transactions or IP litigation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint) and the internet.
- Excellent written and oral skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of assisting businesses build IP strategies.
Language
- Excellent knowledge of English and at least one other UN language.
